90s Rock Icon Casey Chaos Passes Away at 59

90s rock icon Casey Chaos, recognized as the frontman of Amen, has passed away at the age of 59.

The founder of Cleopatra Records, Brian Perera, confirmed his death on Instagram. No reason for death was provided.

Perera stated: ‘With profound sorrow, I offer my sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Casey Chaos.

I was fortunate to collaborate with Casey during his remarkable live show with Christian Death at the American Legion Hall in 1993.

Entering the hall with my close friend Matt Green and my wife, Yvonne, was an unforgettable experience—particularly witnessing Nicolas Cage sitting front-row center, utterly engrossed.

He remarked: ‘Casey was not only an exceptional musician—he genuinely embraced the lifestyle.

In 1994, Chaos established Amen in Los Angeles following the breakup of his earlier band, Disorderly Conduct.

They signed with Roadrunner Records and launched their major label debut album, which is also titled Amen.

Amen put out two more albums, We Have Come for Your Parents and Death Before Musick.

Outside of Amen, Chaos worked with Twiggy Ramirez and members of Queens of the Stone Age on a project named Headband, which recorded music but never published it.

Chaos subsequently established the band Scum, featuring black metal legends Samoth and Cosmocrator from Zyklon, Bård Faust from Emperor, and Happy Tom from Turbonegro.

Scum ultimately put out an album, Gospels for the Sick, in 2005, which received a nomination in the metal category at Norway’s Alarm Awards in 2006.

In 2006, Chaos was awarded a Grammy Award certificate for his role as a songwriter on the Grammy Award-winning recording of System of a Down’s song B.Y.O.B.

In 2012, Chaos was detained for supposedly crashing his vehicle into 15 stationary cars in Studio City, California.

In June 2019, he was taken into custody once more for supposedly attacking a woman at his residence in Los Angeles.

His attorney Elon Berk had earlier stated to TMZ: ‘It’s evident that these claims against Casey are completely untrue.

The residence where the supposed event took place had numerous witnesses who have all provided statements to authorities and are prepared to testify in court regarding the untruth of these claims.

Karim Chmielinski, known as Chaos, was born in Trenton, New York. He began his career as a professional skater prior to transitioning into a musician.
