Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League play on Boxing Day.
The Premier League has revealed that Craig Pawson will officiate the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest on Thursday, December 26th. Simon Bennett and Dan Robathan have been designated as the assistant referees.
In the meantime, Dean Whitestone is serving as the fourth official. Michael Salisbury is serving as the VAR, assisted by Akil Howson.
Spurs approach the match following their 6-3 defeat at home to Liverpool in their previous game. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke scored their goals against the Reds, who faced defeat.
Ange Postecoglou’s team is presently positioned in 11th place on the table, and it has been a disappointing season so far for the London club. They will aim to achieve greater consistency in the weeks and months ahead as they seek to climb the league standings.
Talking after their defeat against Liverpool, Postecoglou remarked: “Clearly, a difficult one for us. Kudos to Liverpool; they are a strong team. They were superior to us today. We were definitely short on energy, that’s for sure. It’s simply the circumstance we find ourselves in right now. It was simply an obstacle too great for us.
“I’ve never doubted the players’ dedication, hard work; they truly care and have faith in our mission.” This was clear again today, yet it remains essential to maintain a specific level both physically and in quality to succeed against the top teams. As I mentioned, today they were simply better than us.
He remarked: “From our viewpoint, it will be extremely advantageous in the future once we navigate this phase, as there is no question they won’t encounter as tough a challenge as we are experiencing currently, where we’re requiring players to participate in multiple matches without recovery, we’re asking them to assume roles they’re not typically used to, we’re requesting them to tackle tasks that are quite difficult, but I believe this will enhance their strength in the future and we’ll reap the rewards of it.”
