Atlético Madrid Chief Cerezo Confident in LaLiga Title Push

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has communicated trust in his group to get LaLiga triumph this season, as they enter 2025 driving the table, in front of contenders Genuine Madrid and Barcelona.

Atlético begins the new year at the highest point of the association, with 41 focuses from 18 matches — one point before Genuine and three in front of Barça, whom they crushed 2-1 in an outright exhilarating, latest possible moment win on December 21.

The LaLiga group – – which has secured the title two times with mentor Diego Simeone, in 2014 and 2021 – – made critical interests in the previous summer’s exchange window, gaining Julián Álvarez, Conor Gallagher, Robin Le Normand, and Alexander Sørloth to improve their title yearnings.

“This isn’t our most memorable time at the top, and it certainly won’t be the last,” Cerezo expressed in a meeting with the paper Marca on Tuesday. “Closing the year at the best position, and pondering the group’s and fans’ spirits, imparts in us the certainty to continue.”

“We reliably place in the main three.” The hardest years have been those where we arose as champions. “This year, we get each opportunity on the planet to become champions.”

Atlético started the season bit by bit, yet have now accomplished 12 straight triumphs across all rivalries, including a 2-1 away victory over Barça at Montjuïc, where Sørloth got the triumphant objective in the 96th moment.

Cerezo expressed, “We think our group needs to rank in the main three: either first, second, or third.” “Last year, we set fourth.” One of our goals is to partake in the Heroes Association, and we have accomplished this for the beyond 13 years. Not many groups in Europe have achieved this, and we are among them. “Anything can occur.”

Atlético starts 2025 by heading out to Marbella for the Copa del Rey third round on Saturday, trailed by a home match against Osasuna in LaLiga on January 12.
