Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce’s former girlfriend, revealed how online backlash from Taylor Swift’s alleged fans has affected her mental well-being — and she is genuinely a big supporter of the superstar.
Kayla and Travis ended their relationship in 2022 after five years, and in the summer of 2023, he started seeing Taylor. The model is currently a participant in the latest season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test on FOX.
Being simplified to just a headline, to something as minimal as someone’s former girlfriend? “I believe that finishing this [show] will significantly affect me,” she said to the cameras.
She remarked: “Am I contributing enough? “Am I sufficient?”
Following their initial night at camp, the girls discussed relationships, and Kayla disclosed that she had once dated Travis, sharing her true feelings regarding the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s new girlfriend.
Kayla and Travis started their relationship in 2017 when she messaged him directly following what she referred to as “insta-flirting” by the NFL player for several months. They separated in 2020 following allegations of infidelity, which Travis refuted.
“This is misinformation … a falsehood … and not the reason Kayla and I ended things … kindly direct your anger elsewhere,” he posted in a now-deleted tweet.
They got back together and had double dates with Travis’ teammate Patrick Mahomes and his spouse Brittany, but they ultimately ended their relationship in 2022.
Following the exposure of Travis and Taylor’s relationship, Kayla posted an open letter to herself on social media as a video that started: “Dear Black girl, you might be labeled a traitor for finding love. You will wish that those nearest to you will safeguard you, yet you will soon realize that individuals don’t defend what they don’t cherish.
Apparently hinting at Travis, she remarked: They’ll claim you’re excessive, overly bold, too loud, too opinionated. And in the same moment, declare that you’re inadequate. Insufficiently successful, lacking in wholesomeness, perhaps not even smart enough.
“They will claim you merit the criticism and humiliation.” Due to your skin color, you ought to have been more aware. “They might even attempt to link your worth to your financial assets.”
Kayla went on: “You’re not obliged to engage in this chaotic, frequently unbalanced experience. Protect your heart even when others attempt to measure your worth and test your limits; there’s no need to respond. You are not required to reply, as your silence holds strength. You can utilize that strength to quiet the distractions and your self-doubt.
Some of the online hate directed at her includes remarks like “very attractive” and a sick emoji.
“I would be dishonest if I claimed that such a degree of hatred and online turmoil doesn’t affect me,” she shared with WNBA player Angel Reese during an installment of Angel’s podcast, Unapologetically Angel.
“It certainly does.” Still to this day. You might check out my latest post, and you’ll find people arguing about why I have no value and how I’ll never be skilled. “I don’t have a career, and I’m a mother.”
