Red Sox Manager Alex Cora Showers High Praise on Aaron Judge

The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees possess one of the most significant, if not the most significant, rivalries in baseball. Although opposing fans and players frequently disagree, the Red Sox manager offered a tremendous praise for Yankees captain Aaron Judge.

In the most recent episode of “The Mayor’s Office with Sean Casey,” the Red Sox manager commented on Aaron Judge’s modesty while addressing the finest pull hitters in the sport.

Cora noted that former Red Sox star Manny Ramirez could pull hits at Fenway Park, similar to how Judge uses that tactic at the stadium.

He stated (19:20 and beyond)

“I recall Manny Ramirez stating that the wall was his ally.” It’s not the wall I’m heading towards; now my wall is a companion…. Now chatting with you about players like Aaron Judge and others have mentioned him. I’ve been told that all he’s attempting to do is connect for a line drive over the second baseman.

He went on:

“Last year marked our first real interaction, and he truly is a great person, remarkably humble.” He knows his role in this game; he has a presence that’s humble and he’s a good person. Returning to batting, it appears that any gentle pitch in the zone is likely to be sent out of the park, particularly at Fenway.

Aaron Judge experienced an outstanding 2024 as the Yankees’ captain secured a second AL MVP award following a season with 58 home runs. Among his 58 home runs, a standout was against the Red Sox at Fenway in July when he launched a 470-foot home run, ranking as the fourth-longest at Fenway, according to Statcast.

Alex Cora found himself in the midst of controversy after suggesting a deliberate pitch towards Aaron Judge.

The rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees drew attention when Alex Cora suggested that the Red Sox deliberately aimed to hit the Yankees’ captain. In a September game, Yankees star Gerrit Cole hit Rafael Devers with a pitch in the first inning, while Red Sox’s Bryan Bello threw a pitch behind Aaron Judge in the sixth.

The two events appeared related after Alex Cora mentioned they had their opportunity (apparently alluding to the pitch thrown at Judge).

“It was shut down [Saturday] near the sixth inning,” he replied after losing the series finale the following day. “We received our opportunity.” “It never occurred.”

The Red Sox manager’s statement ignited debate, prompting possible disciplinary measures from MLB. Nonetheless, no measures were implemented regarding Alex Cora following a reported inquiry.
